Get caught reading!

In the lead up to Indigenous Literacy Day on 3 September, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation is encouraging all of Australia to get caught reading, a fun part of its mission to raise funds to help literacy across Australia.

You're never too young to enjoy books! Photo from the ILF's Facebook page.

The 2014 Australian Kids Lit Quiz national team raised funds for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation in its own fundraiser in June. Readers themselves, they are keenly aware of the opportunities reading and literacy bring and wanted to also raise awareness of the literacy needs of Indigenous communities in Australia.

As the ILF says, can you imagine not being able to read? Not all Australians have the same access to books and literacy resources which means many children never learn to read. Remote Indigenous communities across Australia simply don't have enough books, the right kinds of books or sometimes, books in homes.

Help make a difference. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. As little as $5 can help put books in the hands of a child.
